Hundreds of people are facing difficulties as link roads of a bridge on Panchagarh-Debiganj road collapsed due to the persistent rain and onrush of water from the upstream areas.
The fresh flood damaged link roads at both sides of Rangapani Bridge in Khaerbagan area under Debiganj upazila on Thursday which scrapped the road communications of Debiganj, Trepiganj, Chilahati and Shaldanga areas.
Saiful Islam, a resident in the area, said the link roads collapsed early in the morning.
Debiganj union chairman Abu Torab Sarker said onrush of water collapsed 100 feet link road of the bridge in east side while 50 feet in the west side.
People have to cross 15 kilometers more road to reach in Debiganj sadar area as the bridge collapsed, said Trepiganj union chairman Golam Rahman Sarker.
Panchagarh LGED assistant engineer Abdur Rahim Akanda said officials including Debiganj UNO visited the spot.
As the linked roads collapsed due to the flood so there is no scope for early repair, he added.
