Physical condition of photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol who has been in jail being arrested under Digital Security Act has deteriorated.

Though the court has ordered the jail authorities for proper treatment of Kajol, no step has yet been taken for his improved treatment.

Monorom Palak, son of the detained journalist, formed a human-chain on Sunday demanding the release of his father.

Social and cultural activists of different organisations joined Palak in the human-chain.

Palak said his father's left hand became paralysed. His eyes were tied up for 53 days. He even cannot see through his eyes.

Expressing deep concern, Ain-o-Salish Kendra (ASK) has demanded proper treatment of Kajol on urgent basis and release him as quickly as possible.

The court ordered the jail authorities for ensuring proper treatment of Kajol after his lawyer pleaded for his improved treatment. On March 10 last, photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol was abducted when he was returning home from his office in Dhaka. He was rescued from Benapole border in Jashore at night on May 2. Though he was first shown arrested in a case for illegal tresspassing, he was later shown arrested in a Digital Security Act case.
