UP chairman held in Madaripur

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Thursday night arrested two men including a union parishad chairman from Madaripur’s Sadar upazila.

The arrested are Panchkhula UP chairman Akhter Hawlader and his brother Bakhtier Hawlader.

RAB-8 acting company commander senior ASP Md Iftekharuzzaman said acting on a tip-off, the elite force conducted a drive in Ward No-2 area and arrested the duo.

Three lethal weapons and four cocktails were sized from their possessions.

Two separate cases were lodged with Sadar Police Station in this regard.
