NSU students reject 20% waiver of tuition fees, continue protest

Agitating students of North South University are continuing their movement for the third consecutive day on Tuesday demanding minimum 30 per cent waiver of tuition fees.

Though the university authorities have already announced to offer 20 per cent waiver, the students are adamant to their demand to realise 30 per cent waiver and rejected to call off their movement.

NSU proctor Dr Abu Noman Mohammad met with the protestors at noon and announced that the North South University authorities decided to waive 20 per cent of tuition fees as per the demand of the protesting students. The new decision will come to effect from the running semester.

He expressed the the hope that students would call off their movement following the announcement.

On the other hand, students were found chanting slogans against the NSU decision soon after the announcement of the proctor.

Students said the varsity authorities must offer 30 per cent waiver on semester and activities fees. "If the NSU authorities don't accept our demand, we will continue our movement," they added.
