Scuffle at court to decide with whom the bride will stay

Two groups of bride and bridegroom engaged in a scuffle at court premises in Rajshahi city over a decision with whom the bride will stay.

The incident took place at about 12.30pm on Monday on the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Rajshahi.

According to a complaint lodged with Rajpara Police Station, Shamim Yeasin Sohan, a resident of Baliapukur area in the city, got married Nusrat Sultana on October 29 against the will of her family members.

Family members of the bride wanted to separate the relationship of the couple.

Following the dispute bridegroom Sohan lodged a case with the court.

Nusrat opined to stay with her husband when the court wanted to know her opinion in this regard on Monday.

Later, members of the two families engaged in scuffle at the court veranda over the decision.

However, police brought the matter under control.

Sohan’s family members alleged that they were beaten by the Nusrat's followers.

The court official Abul Hashem said two groups locked in a scuffle over the verdict of a marriage and they were dispersed from the court following magistrate’s order.
