Woman run over by pickup van in Cox’s Bazar

A woman died as she was crushed under the wheels of pickup van at Pekua upazila in Cox’s Bazar district on Tuesday morning.

Deceased Amena Begum, 46, was the wife of Nurul Islam, a resident of Ghoshalpara village in Ujantia union under the upazila.

Local UP member Siddique Ahmed said a soil-laden pickup van ran over her in the area around 9 am, leaving her critically injured.

She succumbed to her injuries on the way to local hospital.

Pekua Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Saifur Rahman said police recovered the body and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.
