Wife dies of Covid-19 in morning, husband in afternoon

Two former senior officials died of deadly coronavirus infection on Sunday.

Professor Julekha Begum, former chairman of the National Textbook Board died in the morning, while her husband former Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Professor Nazim Uddin Ahmed died in the afternoon at a hospital at Shyamoli in Dhaka on Sunday.

Both of them were admitted to the hospital after they tested Covid-19 positive. Professor Julekha Begum died in the morning while underwent treatment at the hospital, while her husband died in the afternoon at the same hospital.

They were later buried at the Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard at Mirpur in the capital.

Professor Julekha Begum was the chairman of the Department of Zoology at Dhaka College and Dinajpur Government College. She hailed from Dinajpur district, while her husband Professor Nazim Uddin Ahmed hailed from Sylhet district.

The couple had been living in Dhaka after their retirement from government services.

Deputy Director of College and Admin of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Md Ruhul Amin confirmed the media about the matter.

He said Professor Nazim Uddin was the director general of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education in 2007.
