Thirty-three Bangladeshis, who returned from India through Benapole border Friday night, were sent to institutional quarantine Saturday as they did not have Covid-19 negative certificates.

Benapole Port Immigration Medical Officer Sumon Sen said 342 Bangladeshis returned from India and 33 of them were sent to Jashore General Hospital for quarantine for not having Covid-19 certificate.

“All of them are cancer and heart patients. They had been in India for medical treatment for the past two and a half months.”

“These patients can also return to their residence if they want to go for home quarantine,” Sumon said.

Immigration sources said the government made Covid-19 negative certificates mandatory from December 1 for anyone coming to Bangladesh from India.
