AL candidate wins Laxmipur-2 by-polls

Awami League candidate Nuruddin Chowdhury Nayan has unofficially won the by-elections to Laxmipur-2 constituency.

According to unofficial results, Nuruddin Chowdhury got 122,557 votes while Jatiya Party candidate Sheikh Mohammad Faiz Ullah Langal got 1,868 votes.

The by-polls held using electronic voting machines (EVMs) on Monday.

The Laxmipur-2 constituency fell vacant on January 28 last after independent MP Mohammad Shahid Islam alias Kazi Papul was sentenced by a Kuwait court for criminal offences involving moral turpitude.
