SWAT gets 20 more members

Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit got 20 more new members as Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Miah awarded certificates to newly trained men at Mirpur Police Lines in the capital.
"Importance of SWAT under the present scenario is huge. We are feeling its significance since the Gulshan attack. We have given month-long special training to 20 policemen and appointed them to SWAT. Now the total member of this specialized unit is 70, which will soon be increased to 100," the DMP boss said.
"The first batch of 50 members of SWAT has taken training in the US.
They are using all the modern equipments that came from the US as well. SWAT is playing a major role against militants as we have zero tolerance against militancy," he added.
The DMP commissioner in the function awarded the SWAT trainers with certificates and Taka 10 thousand each in appreciation their work. He also handed over best shooter trophy in pistol category to constable Md Salman Hajari and trophy in rifle category to Constable Abdullah Al Safi.
Top DMP officials including additional commissioner Md Shahabuddin
Qoreshi, additional commissioner Md Monirul Islam and representative from the US Embassy in Dhaka, were present on the occasion, among others.    BSS
