Nomination of 18 MP aspirants among 60 cancelled in Rajshahi

Returning Officer (RO) of Rajshahi, Shameem Ahmed, on Sunday scrutinized nomination papers of 60 parliament member candidates in the upcoming 12th national election and cancelled 18 of them for various causes.

The RO Shameem Ahmed who is also the deputy commissioner of Rajshahi cancelled their nomination papers during the scrutiny for various causes including shortage of necessary papers and wrong information, fake signatures of voters provided in the documents attached with the nomination papers, failed to pay electricity bills, bank loan and submit tax return copy and certificates etc.

The Rajshahi RO today scrutinized 60 parliament members’ aspirants, which of them 37 candidates were declared as valid, five for waiting and cancelled 18.

In Rajshahi-1, independent candidates Golam Rabbani, Akhter-Uz-Zaman Akhter, Ayesha Akter Dalia, Sharmin Akter Nipa (Mahiya Mahi) were declared as invalid.

Meanwhile, Umar Faruque Chowdhury of Awami League (AL), Jamal Khan Dudu of Trinomul BNP, Shamsujjoha of Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM), Al Sad of Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF), Nurunnesa of National People's Party (NPP), Bashir Ahmed of Bangladesh Sanskritic Muktijot, and Mohammad Shamsuddin of Jatiya Party (JaPa) were declared as valid candidates.

In Rajshahi-2, the nomination papers of Md Shamim of Trinomul BNP, and Abu Raihan Masud, Nabi Al Mamun, Shafiqur Rahman Badsha, and Shahbuddin Bacchu-- all independent candidates were declared as invalid.

In the meantime, Fazle Hossain Badsha of Workers Party, Mohammad Ali Kamal of AL, Al Masud Shibli of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad), Saiful Islam Swapan of JaPa, Kamrul Hasan of BNM, Alif Bin Habib of Bangladesh Sanskritic Muktijot, and Maruf Shahriar of Bangladesh Congress were declared as valid.

In Rajshahi-3, Moniruzzaman of Jatiya Gano Front, and independent candidates Nipu Hossain, Shahabuddin Bacchu were declared as invalid while Enamul Haque of Bangladesh Sanskritic Muktijot, and Soibur Rahman of NPP, were kept for waiting.

Meanwhile, the valid candidates are Asaduzzaman Asad of AL, independent candidate Ayen Uddin, Motiur Rahman Montu of BNM, Solaiman Hossain, and Abdus Salam of JaPa, and Bazlur Rahman of BNF.

In Rajshahi 4, Babul Hossain, an independent candidate's nomination paper was canceled while independent candidate Babul Hossain, NPP candidate Jinnatun Islam Jinnah, BNF candidate Matiur Rahman and Jatiya Party candidate Abu Taleb Pramanik were kept for waiting.

The valid candidates for this seat are Abul Kalam Azad of AL, independent candidate Enamul Haque, and BNM candidate Saiful Islam Raihan.

In Rajshahi-5, independent candidates Ahsanul Haque Masud and Obaidur Rahman have been declared invalid and Kazi Abdul Wadud Dara of AL, independent candidate Dr Monsur Rahman, Jatiya Gano Front candidate Mokhlesur Rahman, Altaf Hossain Molla of BSP, Zaker Party candidate Shafiqul Islam, Shariful Islam of BNM, and Jatiya Party's Abul Hossain were declared as valid.

In Rajshahi 6, independent candidates Khairul Islam and Israfil Bishwas were declared as invalid and AL nominated candidate Shahriar Alam, independent candidate Raihanul Haque, Jasad candidate Zulfikar Mannan Jami, NPP candidate Mohsin Ali, Zaker Party candidate Ripon Ali, JaPa candidate Shamsuddin Rintu, and BNM candidate Abdus Samad -- were declared as valid for this seat.
