Man held with firearms in Rajshahi

Police arrested an alleged arms-trader with a firearm and ammunition Bhadra area under Chandrima Police Station in Rajshahi city on Friday night.

The arrestee was Imran Ahmed Emon, 22, son of Imtiaz Ahmed of Boharampur area under Rajpara Police Station in the metropolis.

RMP Commissioner Biplob Bijoy Talukder told the journalists about the arrest on Saturday.

He said acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) conducted a drive in Bhadra area of the city and arrested Emon.

They recovered a foreign-made pistol with two bullets and a lethal weapon after searching his residence based on his confession.

The official said that several cases are pending against him with different police stations.
