The excellence of the Ordnance Center and School of Armed Forces has drawn the neighbouring countries to send their military officers for extensive training here said President Abdul Hamid on Thursday while addressing a parade at the sixth reunion of the Army Ordnance Corps at Ordnance Center and School at Rajendrapur Cantonment.
The President also stressed the need for upholding world standard training by the Ordnance Center and School so that members of armed forces from home and abroad give priority to pursue training from the school.
"There is no alternative to training in military life. Training makes people disciplined, helps enhance professional knowledge and increase loyalty. So you have to continue to receive training," the President said.
Mentioning that Ordnance Center and School prepares smart army members for the Ordnance Corps through various trainings, President Hamid said the role of the training center is praiseworthy to make a civilian youth a soldier through hard training.
"Ordnance Center and School is an internationally recognized training institute where members of armed forces of friendly countries take training every year," he said, adding that that is why the training must be in accordance with international standard so that members of armed forces both at home and abroad give priority to pursue training from there.
The members of the Corps, having specialized training on ammunition and explosive, are working as an inseparable part of the Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh and Rapid Action Battalion to eliminate terrorism and militancy, said the President.
"The members of the corps have significant contribution to increasing the production capacity of Bangladesh Ordnance Factories and Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory," he added.
Riding on an open jeep, the President inspected the parade of artillery Corps. After inspecting the parade, he also took salute from the podium.
Earlier, the President was received by Chief of Army Staff Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq when he reached the parade ground.
