The Combined Military Hospital (CMH) made its Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) Centre functional from Monday, raising hope among sufferers of cancer and other complicated blood-related diseases for better treatment and cure locally.
In May, 2015, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the BMT Centre at Dhaka Cantonment, said an ISPR release here.
It said bone marrow transplantation of four persons, including two military personnel, have been done this week and the Centre, which is developed in synchronization with Tata Memorial Hospital, Kolkata, would be opened for general public in near future.
A significant number of people go abroad each year for bone marrow transplantation, the release said.    BSS
