The Occupational Health and Safety Day is being celebrated today (Sunday) with the theme healthy workers, healthy working environment, will build a smart Bangladesh. A procession and discussion meeting will be held on this occasion. Some 29 factories/institutions in 12 sectors will be given Green Factory Award-2023.
State Minister for Labour and Employment Nazrul Islam Chowdhury said in a press conference at Shromo Bhavan on Saturday on the eve of the National Occupational Health and Safety Day 2024.
In the press conference, it was informed that everyone should be encouraged to follow health and safety rules at the workplace. Since 2003, with the aim of creating public awareness, the International Labour Organization has celebrated Occupational Health and Safety Day every year on April 28 worldwide.
The Occupational Health and Safety Day is being celebrated on April 28 in Bangladesh by the initiative of the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
This years theme is Healthy workers, beautiful working environment, will build smart Bangladesh. In order to make the observance of occupational health and safety regulations as a culture in the workplace, campaign activities were taken up in all the labour-intensive areas of the country including Dhaka on this day.
On this occasion, on April 28 discussion meeting, release of souvenirs, publication of pamphlets in newspapers, television talk shows, district to district truck show, postering and decoration of important road islands and places and processions are being organized.
Initiatives have been taken to celebrate the day by holding processions and discussion meetings in the jurisdiction of the offices of 31 Deputy Inspector Generals of the Directorate located in different parts of the country and in other districts with the cooperation of the district administration.
