The Cabinet on Monday sent back the draft of The Antiquities Act, 2024 for further scrutiny and update to making it more time befitting. It would be tabled before the Cabinet again.
However, the draft of National Academy of Planning and Development Act, 2024, which was given in principle approval in 2017, was tabled in the Cabinet meeting, but it was withdrawn after discussion in the meeting.
The PM chaired the meeting while all Cabinet members and senior high officials concerned of the ministries and divisions attended the meeting.
While briefing after the meeting at Secretariat, Cabinet Secretary M Mahbub Hossain said that the Public Administration Ministry placed the draft of National Academy of Planning and Development Act, 2024 to make a new law updating the existing one, but it was withdrawn later.
Regarding the The Antiquities Act, 2024, he said that the law of 1986 is being promulgated newly in Bengali.
In the draft law, all archaeological heritages are being defined. The law also ensures the provisions of protection, handing over or control and punishments.
The meeting also sent back a proposal of the Public Administration Ministry to enlist the National Public Service Day of July 23 in the schedule of Ka category from Kha category.
