Maker of soft drink Blu, Rafsan, granted bail for 8 weeks

The High Court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail for eight weeks to Iftekhar Rafsan, popularly known as Rafsan, the younger brother, in connection with a case filed for allegedly marketing of a soft drink called Blu without BSTI approval.

The HC bench comprising Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman and Justice Md Bashir Ullah granted him bail for eight weeks and asked him to surrender before the lower court within the stipulated time in connection with the case. Senior Advocate Shah Monjurul Hoque appeared on behalf of Rafsan in the court.

On June 13, Judge Alaul Akbar of Pure Food Court in Dhaka issued a arrest warrant against popular YouTuber Iftekhar Rafsan alias Rafsan the Chotobhai.

He has been accused of marketing unauthorized energy drinks "Blu". Food Inspector Kamrul Hossain of Bangladesh Food Safety Authority said Rafsans product Blu drink has no approval.

Earlier, the Food Inspector Kamrul Hassan applied to the court as the Blu drinks was found unapproved.

Even the drug administration does not know whether these products are drugs or drinks, he said. A mobile court raided an unauthorized factory of Iftekhar Rafsans Blu drinks on April 24.

Based on secret information, the district administration and BSTIs mobile court conducted raids in the Cumilla BSIC area.
