The global get-together programme for cross-border musicians, "World Classical Music Alliance" started for the seventh year yesterday at the Central Auditorium of Chhayanaut in Dhanmondi. The two day programme will now move to Alliance Francaise de Dhaka on December 27. On the first day Ustad Ashish Khan fused the evening with Sarod and fictitious narration in the style of classical dialect "Mayhar." Bangladeshi maestros Shahadat Hossain Khan and Yusuf Ali Tipu accompanied him on Sarod and Tabla. On this second day the programme will start at 4pm. Relatively young performers will perform on this day. Performers from India and Bangladesh will cherish this day with Santoor, Setar, Tabla, Sarod and Pakhawaj. "Biswobyapi Sangeet Moitree" is organising the event. About organising the event organisers Mehzabien Rahman and architect NR Khan said, "Young people these days are forgetting the magic of classical music. They also do not realise that some of the iconic classicists Ustad Alauddi Ali Khan and Annapurna Devi who were Bangladeshis. Thus this kind of events would hopefully inspire them towards classical music and the rich heritage of the country."
