Air Chief inspects STOL facility in Bogra

Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan on Sunday inspected the runway Short field Take Off and Landing (STOL Port) and distributed winter clothes in Bogra.  

During the visit, the Air Force Chief said that the airport has gradually become an important part for both military and civil aviation operations, which will contribute significantly to the national interest.

He said, Bogra Airport is essential for the CASEVAC and MEDEVAC missions, through which it is possible to quickly covey comatose patients from the remote areas of the region for better treatment.

He said that proper maintenance of this runway will play an effective role in national security and emergency situations. Timely re-carpeting would prevent future deterioration of the runway, which would save additional money later on.

He also hoped that the runway would serve as an alternate and emergency landing center for VVIP flights which would play a role in ensuring safety in any situation arising in the northwest.

During natural calamities like floods, it serves as a strategic hub to facilitate relief operations and rapid deployment of armed forces personnel.

The Civil Aviation Authority will take necessary measures to improve the runway through necessary renovations and re-carpeting at the earliest and subsequently extend the runway for commercial flights, the Bangladesh Air Force will provide necessary assistance to BAB in this regard. Apart from protecting the sovereignty of the country, the Bangladesh Air Force has been working tirelessly to deal with any disaster in the country and has been conducting various service activities. Following this, Air Force Chief and Bangladesh Air Force Women's Welfare Association President Saleha Khan distributed blankets among the helpless and distressed people in Bogra.

During the visit of the Chief of the Air Force, senior officials of the Air Force, the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority and other local dignitaries were present.
