17 detained while attempting to go to India through Jhenidah border

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 17 individuals, including women and children, from Moheshpur border area in Jhenidah while they were attempting to illegally cross into India.

According to a media release from the BGB-58 Battalion, the detentions took place between Friday afternoon and Saturday noon during raids in the Bagadanga, Kholashpur, and Palianpur areas of Moheshpur upazila.

Acting on a tip-off that a group of Bangladeshis was planning to enter India illegally, BGB personnel launched the operations. Six people were detained from the Bagadanga border, three from Kholashpur, and eight from Palianpur. The detainees are residents of Khulna, Madaripur, and Noakhali districts.

All 17 individuals were handed over to Moheshpur police station for legal proceedings.
