Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered smuggled Indian goods worth crores from Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district early Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB officials stopped a stone-laden truck at around 3:30 AM in Ibrahimpur area along the Dhaka–Sylhet highway and recovered smuggled Indian goods hidden beneath the stones.
BGB recovered 369 pieces of Indian sarees, 83 pieces of lehengas, 570 kg of cumin, 17,952 pieces of cosmetic products worth Tk 1.89 crore and the truck carrying smuggled goods from the spot.
Confirming the incident through a press release, BGB said that the confiscated goods have been handed over to Akhaura Customs authority and further legal procedures are underway.
