Elderly Man electrocuted in Joypurhat

An elderly man died from electrocution while picking jackfruit at Akkelpur upazila in Joypurhat district on Saturday.

The incident occurred around 2 PM on Saturday in Chiari village under Raikali union of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Afaz Uddin Pramanik, 70, a resident of Chiari village under Raikali union in the upazila.

According to locals, Afaz was climbing a jackfruit tree near his home to pick jackfruit when he accidentally came into contact with a high-voltage electric wire running over the roof of a neighboring house and died on the spot.

Later, family recovered his body from the spot

Akkelpur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mominul Islam confirmed the incident and said that legal actions will be taken.
