Two foreign airlines are set to resume flight operations from Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram, boosting international connectivity and addressing rising passenger demand.
Salam Air will reintroduce flights on the Chattogram–Muscat route from September 18, while Fly Dubai is scheduled to restart services from October 26, confirmed Airport PRO Engineer Ibrahim Khalil.
Fly Dubai was the last foreign carrier to suspend operations from Chattogram, halting flights on September 1, 2024, following earlier exits by Thai Air, Thai Smile Air, Oman Air, SpiceJet, Jazeera Airways, Malindo Air, Rotana Air, Himalayan Air, Ras Al Khaimah Air, and Tiger Airways due to inadequate facilities and operational challenges.
The airport, however, has regained appeal for international carriers as passenger numbers and revenues have increased. In the fiscal year 2024–25, Shah Amanat Airport generated Tk 270.49 crore in revenue — about Tk 33 crore higher than the previous year.
Passenger data shown that around 392,456 travelers used international routes via the airport up to June 2025, compared to 982,540 in the same period last year. Domestic passenger numbers remain low, with only 6,690 travelers recorded during the same period.
