Worker electrocuted in Bagerhat

An electrical worker died after electrocution while working at Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday noon.

The deceased was identified as Sabuj Sarder, 26, son of Islam Sarder, a resident of Saberdanga village under Bagerhat Sadar upazila. He was a worker of Sami enterprise.

According to locals, Sabuj was working at an electricity pole under Bagerhat Sadar Rural Electricity Authority in Sukadara area of ​​Fakirhat upazila.

At that moment, he was suddenly electrocuted by contact with the wire and was left hanging from the transmission line. The electric shock caused sparks to spread around.

Being informed, police and fire service officials rushed to the spot and recovered the body after two hours of effort.

Confirming the incident, Fakirhat Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Acting Officer Shahjahan Mia said that the incident occurred because the electric line was on while he was working.

Fakirhat Model Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abdur Razzak Mir said that the body will be handed over to the deceased’s family after legal procedure.
