2 killed in separate Bagerhat road mishaps

Two individuals were killed in separate road mishaps at Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Keramat Ali, 85, a resident of Arpāra village in Baruipara union of Bagerhat Sadar upazila and the other individual was an unidentified woman, aged around 50.

According to eyewitnesses, Keramat Ali was crossing on the Khulna–Dhaka Highway near Shiuli Filling Station at around 12:30 PM when a Madaripur-bound bus from Khulna hit him, which caused him to fall on the road and sustain critical injuries.

Later, locals rescued him and took him to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex and later to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at around 4 PM.

In a second incident, an unidentified woman was crossing the road near Bonoful School when a speeding motorcycle hit her at around 6:30 PM and fled from the spot.

Later, locals informed Fakirhat Fire Service, who rescued the woman and took her to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.

Mollahat Highway Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Asaduzzaman Howlader confirmed those incidents and said that the deceased woman appeared to be mentally unstable.
