Illegal fishing nets, polythene seized in Bagerhat

Bangladesh Coast Guard seized a large quantity of illegal fishing nets and polythene worth Tk 94 lakh from Mongla ferry ghat of Bagerhat district on Saturday morning.

According to sources, a team of Coast Guard officials from Western Zone conducted a search on a truck parked near the Mongla ferry ghat and recovered 252,000 metres of various illegal fishing nets and 900 kilograms of illegal polythene worth Tk 94 lakh from the spot.

Coast Guard Western Zone Operations Officer Lieutenant Commander Muntasir Ibne Mohsin confirmed the incident and vowed to protect the environment.
