GAIN, FBCCI, CAB sign MoU to improve workers' nutrition

A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) to improve the nutritional status and overall well-being of workers.
The MoU was signed at the FBCCI meeting room in Dhaka on Tuesday. It was signed by GAIN Country Director Dr. Rudaba Khandaker, FBCCI Administrator Abdur Rahim Khan and CAB President AHM Shafiquzzaman.
At the beginning of the program, a minute of silence was observed to pray for the eternal peace of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and prayers were offered for the repose of her soul.
The main objective of this tripartite cooperation is to improve the nutritional status of workers working in various industrial sectors of Bangladesh, increase the availability of safe and nutritious food and create a health-friendly working environment. Under the MoU, joint work will be done to implement nutrition-sensitive initiatives, food safety, consumer and worker awareness and evidence-based activities in the workplace.
The stakeholders expressed hope that this partnership will ensure the good health of workers, as well as increase productivity and have a positive impact on sustainable economic development.
Also present at the MoU signing ceremony were GAIN Senior Advisor Khandaker Mostan Hossain, Project Manager GM Sumon, FBCCI Head of International Affairs Md. Zafar Iqbal, Advisor Brigadier General Abu Naeem Md. Shahidullah (Retd.), Joint Secretary Shamimul Rahman, Additional Secretary General Ifrat Ara Begum, CAB General Secretary Humayun Kabir Bhuiyan and others.
