The President has appointed Additional Attorney General Mohammad Arshadur Rouf as the Acting Attorney General of Bangladesh.
The Ministry of Law issued a notification to this effect on Thursday under an order of the President.
According to the notification, Mohammad Arshadur Rouf has been given additional responsibility as the Attorney General of Bangladesh and the appointment has taken effect immediately.
Earlier, on December 28, Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman submitted his resignation to the President.
On August 7, then Attorney General AM Amin Uddin tendered his resignation, citing personal reasons.
On August 8, senior advocate Md Asaduzzaman was appointed as the 17th Attorney General of Bangladesh and assumed office.
He later received nomination from BNP for the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
After purchasing the party’s nomination form for Jhenaidah-1 constituency, he stepped down from the post.
