| BREAKING: |

A Dhaka court on Monday ordered the seizure of all assets, including three vehicles and 17 bighas of land belonging to former law minister Anisul Huq, valued at a total of Tk 6.25 crore.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Sabbir Foyez passed the order following an application filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), court sources said.
According to the ACC, the seized assets include vehicles worth Tk 4.62 crore and land valued at Tk 1.63 crore. The application was submitted by ACC Deputy Director Jahangir Alam.
The ACC alleged that between January 12, 2014 and December 16, 2024, Anisul Huq acquired assets worth Tk 146 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income by abusing power and engaging in corrupt practices.
The commission further claimed that suspicious transactions were conducted through 29 bank accounts, involving deposits of Tk 349 crore and withdrawals of Tk 316 crore, indicating possible money laundering.
The court was told that the seizure was necessary to ensure a fair investigation, as there was a risk the assets could be sold or transferred, preventing their confiscation in favour of the state if the allegations are proven.
The case is currently under investigation.
