A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and 13 former senior government secretaries in connection with a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The order was issued on Tuesday by Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Sabbir Foyez following an application by the ACC, court officials confirmed.

According to the anti-graft body, credible information suggests the accused were attempting to leave the country with their families, raising concerns that the ongoing investigation could be delayed or obstructed if they fled abroad. The commission said the travel ban was necessary to ensure a fair and effective investigation.

The accused include former secretaries from key ministries such as bridges, road transport, public security, power, land, water resources, railways, defence, energy and economic relations, as well as a former comptroller and auditor general.

The ACC case was filed on December 11 with Assistant Director Khorshed Alam as the complainant.
