Five injured in clash between Jamaat, Chhatra Dal in Bauphal

BAUPHAL, PATUAKHALI, Jan 9: At least five people were injured in a clash between activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at a government primary school in Bauphal Upazila of Patuakhali on Thursday night.

The incident took place around 8:00pm at Charwadal Government Primary School in river-surrounded Chandradwip Union.

The injured were identified as Sujan Khan, 25, a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami's youth wing; Jamaat activists Rakib Hasan and Abdul Barek Majhi; and Chhatra Dal leaders Saidul Islam, 23 and Jahirul Islam Sohag, 22. All of them were admitted to Bauphal Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

Contacted, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Bauphal Police Station, Atikul Islam, said they had come to know about the incident through various sources, but no written complaint had been filed by either side yet.
"Legal action will be taken if a complaint is lodged," he added.
