Law enforcement agencies have failed to identify the perpetrators even two days after the shooting death of Azizur Rahman Muchabbir, former general secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Dal.
In protest and demanding the immediate arrest and trial of the killers, the victim's relatives, political associates, and traders from Karwan Bazar staged a protest march in front of Tejgaon Police Station in the capital on Friday.
The procession began after Jumma prayers from an alley behind Star Kabab at Tejturi Bazar-the site of the killing. It passed through the Karwan Bazar intersection and ended in front of Tejgaon Police Station, where protesters laid siege to the station and staged a sit-in for about 30 minutes, chanting slogans demanding the arrest of the killers.
The situation eased after senior officials of Tejgaon Police Station assured the protesters that those involved would be identified and arrested as soon as possible. The procession later dispersed after marching through Karwan Bazar intersection and ending at Sonargaon intersection.
