Blankets distributed among cold-hit people at Dumuria

KHULNA, Jan 11: Blankets were distributed among cold-stricken and destitute people in Dumuria of Khulna on Sunday.
The distribution programme was held at around 12:30 pm in front of the Dumuria Assistant Commissioner (Land) Office, where winter clothing was handed over to homeless, helpless and impoverished people of the area.

During the programme, homeless people and underprivileged children living on the streets were personally wrapped in blankets amid the biting cold. 

The beneficiaries expressed their happiness after receiving the blankets, saying that the winter clothing would be of great help to them during the severe cold.

Speaking on the occasion, Dumuria Assistant Commissioner (Land) Amit Kumar Biswas said, the blankets, allocated by the Bangladesh Government, were distributed to ensure that genuine cold-stricken and distressed people receive winter assistance.

He added that although the government allocation is comparatively less than the actual demand, efforts would continue to distribute winter clothing among all cold-affected people in phases.

Among others present were BNP leader and former Upazila Vice-Chairman Gazi Abdul Halim, Dumuria Press Club General Secretary Sheikh Mahatab Hossain, Senior Assistant of the Upazila Land Office Mohammad Nasim Uddin, Nazir-cum-computer operator Kironmala, and other local dignitaries.
