Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has said that a schoolgirl was murdered in Dhaka's South Banasree area after she refused an "indecent proposal," following the arrest and preliminary interrogation of a suspect in the case.
According to RAB, the arrested man, Milon Mallik, 28, was an employee of a food hotel owned by the victim's father. Milon, who had been on the run since the incident, was arrested on Sunday night from the Boro Singa area under Bagerhat Sadar Police Station.
RAB-3 Commanding Officer (CO) Lieutenant Colonel Fayezul Arefin disclosed the matter at a press conference held at the RAB Media Centre in Karwan Bazar on Monday.
He said that Milon used to visit the victim's residence regularly due to his job at the hotel. For some time, he had been making immoral proposals to the teenage girl. When he repeated the proposal on the night before the incident, the girl verbally abused him. Enraged by this, Milon decided to take revenge the following day.
