The International Crimes Tribunal on Monday issued arrest warrants against former Narayanganj-4 MP Shamim Osman, his son Ayon Osman and 10 others over crimes against humanity committed during the July movement in Narayanganj.

The tribunal judge issued this order accepting the charges submitted earlier this morning by Gazi Monwar Hussain.

Shamim Osman, a senior Awami League leader, previously served as a member of parliament from the Narayanganj-4 constituency. His son, Imtinan Osman Ayan, also known as Ayan Osman, has been named as an accused in the case.

According to the prosecution, Narayanganj witnessed the highest number of killings during the July-August unrest. The accused were allegedly armed members of the Awami League and its affiliate organisation, Jubo League, who were involved in the violence.

The charges were filed on Monday morning with the registrar of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1), prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim confirmed. He shared the information with journalists in a WhatsApp group this morning.
