RAB officer killed, 3 injured in Sitakunda gunfight

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 19: A member of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) was killed and three others were critically injured in a gunfight with "local criminals" in Jungle Salimpur of Chattogram's Sitakunda on Monday.

The clash erupted in the afternoon during a RAB 7 operation in the area.

The dead was identified as Nayek Subedar Abdul Motaleb, deputy assistant director of RAB 7.

Commander MZM Intekhab Chowdhury of RAB Headquarters' Legal and Media Wing told the journalists that RAB members came under sudden attack while conducting the raid.

Motaleb died in the assault, while three injured personnel were rushed to the Combined Military Hospital in Chattogram for treatment.

According to Sitakunda Police sources, critically injured Nayek Subedar Abdul Motaleb has been admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where he died while under treatment.
