Padma Bridge, operated under the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, has achieved a new milestone in toll revenue, with total collections surpassing Tk 3,000 crore since its inauguration. The bridge has emerged not only as a landmark infrastructure project but also as a vital driver of the national economy.
Since its opening on June 25, 2022, both vehicle movement and toll revenue on the bridge have shown steady growth. The Padma Bridge has ensured uninterrupted connectivity to 21 districts in the southern and southwestern regions of the country, significantly reducing travel time and transportation costs.
Beyond easing communication, the bridge has played a crucial role in employment generation and has made a positive contribution to GDP growth. The most notable impacts have been observed in the transportation of agricultural produce, fisheries and livestock, and industrial goods, bringing what officials describe as a "revolutionary change" to regional trade and logistics.
