Former National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) Director Major General (Retd.) Ziaul Ahsan’s flat has been sealed over allegations of acquiring illegal wealth.

The flat, located on the third floor of an eight-storey building named Joyita in Plot 14, Road 506, Sector 12, Jalsiri Housing Project, Rupganj, Narayanganj, was sealed on Wednesday afternoon (21 January).

The operation was led by Narayanganj District Revenue Deputy Collector (RDC) and Executive Magistrate Shahriar Parvez. Other flats in the building were not sealed as they were rented out and occupied by tenants.

The operation involved officials from Purbachal Revenue Circle, including Kanungo Delowar Hossain, Surveyor Abul Hossain, Registration Assistant Imran Hossain and Tehsildar Abul Kalam of the Rupganj Union Land Office, along with police and Ansar personnel.

According to case, allegations were filed last year by Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Md. Salauddin, accusing Ziaul Ahsan and Nusrat Jahan of amassing wealth beyond their known sources of income.

The complaint claims that the retired army officer illegally acquired assets worth Tk 22.27 crore. He is also accused of depositing 55,000 US dollar into his personal bank account in violation of regulations.

In addition, Ziaul Ahsan allegedly conducted abnormal transactions totaling Tk 120 crore across eight active bank accounts and together with his wife, transferred and converted large sums of money under the names of various individuals and organisations.
