
FENI, Jan 23: A Tk 2 crore charity hospital has been set up in Feni's Daganbhuiyan Upazila to provide free healthcare services to underprivileged villagers. The Tishma-Jaima Charity Hospital and Diabetes Care Centre was inaugurated on Tuesday at Banapukur in Rajapur Union.
Former secretary and ex-chairman of the National Board of Revenue Badiur Rahman formally opened the centre as the chief guest.
The inauguration was chaired by Founder Chairman M. Taher Uddin. Special guests included Professor Dr Bijoy Krishna Das, Daganbhuiyan Upazila Health Officer Dr Sohrab Al-Hossain, Journalist Abu Taher, Feni Private Hospital and Diagnostic Centre Owners' Association Convener Abdul Motaleb Humayun, Member Secretary Hafizur Rahman, and social activist Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan Suman.
Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare for rural communities. A prayer was offered for the success of the institution by social worker Tajul Islam.
Taher Uddin said, the hospital will provide free prescriptions and medicines daily from 10 am to 5 pm, staffed by two consultants, two medical officers, and supporting staff. Built on 13 decimals of land, the centre cost Tk 2 crore to establish. He expressed hope that the facility would eventually be upgraded into a medical college.
