DIU kicks off year-long silver jubilee festival

Daffodil International University (DIU) has inaugurated its silver jubilee celebrations, marking the completion of 24 years and the beginning of its 25th year with a series of 25 planned programmes.

The launch was held at the Independence Conference Center and the Central Field of Daffodil Smart City, in a vibrant display honouring the university's achievements, innovation, and contribution to quality education, a media statement read on Saturday.

The programme opened with a colourful campus rally featuring enthusiastic participation from students and faculty across all departments, it read.

This was followed by the national anthem and a dynamic flash mob to the DIU theme song, performed by multiple student clubs, according to the statement.

One of the highlights was the dance performance "Red to Green: DIU Journey", illustrating the university's evolution, core values, and commitment to sustainable development.

Students also performed patriotic and motivational songs.

In his welcome address, Vice-Chancellor Prof MR Kabir reflected on DIU's journey in education, research, and human value development.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees Sabur Khan reaffirmed the university's guiding leadership philosophy and its commitment to societal welfare.

Pro-VC, in his concluding remarks, outlined plans for the silver jubilee year and expressed gratitude to all contributors.

In recognition of its journey, members of the Bangladesh Scouts DIU Air Rover Scout Group were honoured.

Emeritus Professor M Lutfar Rahman received the "Roupya Ilish", the second-highest award of Bangladesh Scouts-the first ever for a private university individual.

Mohammad Emran Hossain was awarded the Medal of Merit, Rover Scout Leader Farhana Rahman received the Bar to the Medal of Merit, and three Rover Scouts earned the National Service Award.

A ceremonial torch-lighting marked the countdown to the 25th year, symbolising knowledge, enlightenment, and progress.

This was followed by the cake-cutting for DIU's 24th founding anniversary, celebrating two decades of achievement and a firm commitment to the future. �"bdnews24
