British High Commissioner calls on Jamaat Ameer

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cook held a courtesy meeting with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, at his office in Bashundhara on Sunday morning.

The meeting, which began at 9:30 AM, was attended by Deputy High Commissioner James Goldman, Head of Political Team Timothy Ducket and Second Secretary (Political) Miss Kate Ward. 

The discussions took place in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.

Both sides engaged in open talks on ensuring a free, fair and credible 13th national parliamentary election in Bangladesh, as well as matters of mutual interest between the two countries. 

They expressed hope that the upcoming election would further strengthen Bangladesh’s democracy and democratic institutions.

The meeting also touched upon the broader bilateral relationship, including trade and cooperation, with both parties expressing optimism that ties between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom would continue to grow in the future.

Accompanying Dr. Shafiqur Rahman were Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer, Assistant Secretary General and Head of Central Media and Publicity cell, Central Executive Council member Mobarak Hossain and Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, Foreign Affairs Adviser to Jamaat Ameer.
