2 fined for illegally storing govt goods in Savar

Upazila administration fined two individuals for illegally storing government rice and flour in Savar on Wednesday afternoon.

The fined are Sekendar Ali, owner of Gopalganj Store and Md Rafiqul Islam, owner of Farhad Store. Sekendar was fined Tk 1 lakh for illegally storing 150 sacks of govt rice and Rafiqul was fined Tk 50,000 for illegally storing 32 sacks of govt flour.

Acting on a tip-off, a mobile court, led by Savar upazila Assistant Comissioner (AC-Land) and Executive Magistrate Abdullah Al Amin conducted a drive and seized a large quantity of government goods from two grocery shops and fining the shop owners for illegal possession.

Confirming the incident, AC-Land said that the seized food items belonged to the Directorate General of Food and were allegedly stored illegally for commercial purposes.
