At least 15 supporters from both sides were injured in a clash between the supporters of BNP alliance candidate Nurul Haque Nur and "rebel" candidate Hasan Mamun in the Patuakhali-3 (Galachipa-Dashmina) constituency.

The incident occurred around 11:00pm on Saturday in front of No-3 Chatra Government Primary School in Dakuya Union under Galachipa upazila.

Jilur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Galachipa Police Station, said police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the clash and brought the situation under control. He added that the situation is now calm.

Mohammad Abu Naim, convener of the election management committee of Gano Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur and president of the central committee of Chhatra Odhikar, told the media that supporters of Hasan Mamun were marching with the horse symbol at the time, while several local supporters of the truck symbol were also present in the area.

He alleged that, being in greater numbers, the horse-symbol supporters raised provocative slogans and launched an attack. As a result, seven to eight truck-symbol supporters-including Md Altaf Pyada, 40, Md Firoz Khan, 35, and Md Mahatab Khan, 37-were injured.

However, supporters of Hasan Mamun claimed that truck-symbol supporters blocked their procession and attacked them with sticks. In the incident, seven to eight people were injured. Among them, Zayed Mahmud Saad, 23, and Md Wazib Howlader, 24, were admitted to Galachipa Health Complex.

Meanwhile, clashes also broke out between two BNP groups in the Sreepur area of Ashulia in Savar on Sunday over the hanging of banners. Several people from both sides were reportedly injured, though their identities could not be confirmed immediately.

Ashulia Police Station OC (Investigation) Azgar Hossain said police received initial reports of injuries. However, he added that no one was found at the scene when law enforcers visited the area.
