JU JCD leader Rony dies of burn injuries  

Saiful Islam Rony, a leader of Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit Chhatra Dal (JCD) and a student of University's Anthropology Department (2017-18 session, 47th batch), died from severe burn injuries following a gas cylinder explosion in the Islambazar area adjacent to the university.

Rony breathed his last around 10:00am on Monday, while undergoing treatment at the 'ICU' of the 'National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery' at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

According to eyewitnesses and university sources, the tragic incident occurred around 9:30 pm on January 27 in Islambazar. Local resident Abdus Sobhan Raihan allegedly attempted to set his room on fire after pouring octane fuel following a family dispute.
