Ex-minister Ramesh Chandra dies after falls sick in jail

Former Awami League water resources minister and Thakurgaon-1 MP Ramesh Chandra Sen has died inside Dinajpur jail.

Around 9:10AM on Saturday, he suddenly fell ill in prison and was taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead at about 9:29AM.

According to the jail sources, Thakurgaon police detained Ramesh Chandra on August 16, 2024, and sent to jail on August 17 in three cases, including murder.

Dinajpur District Jail super Md Farhad Sarker said, the body will be handed over to the family after completion of legal procedure. 

He had been elected as Awami League lawmaker in 2024. He was also the former presidium member of the party.
