4 ‘thieves’ held with stolen motorcycles in Lalmonirhat

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested four suspected members of a motorcycle theft gang along with three stolen motorcycles during different drives in Lalmonirhat district.

The arrested were identified as Tuhin Islam, 30, of Taraganj in Rangpur district, Sadekul Islam Shawon, 36, of Burimari area under Patgram upazila, Shimul Mia, 28, of Kaliganj upazila and Habibur Rahman, 27, of Latabor area under the same upazila.

According to sources, Tuhin and Sadekul were first detained at a checkpoint in front of Doani Police Camp under Hatibandha police station while riding a red-and-black 150cc Pulsar motorcycle without registration.

Based on information obtained during interrogation, police later arrested Shimul Mia from Kakina union under Kaliganj police station and recovered an unregistered Discover 135 motorcycle from his house.

In a separate drive, Habibur Rahman was arrested from Latabor village in Chandrapur union and a black-and-silver Honda Shine 125cc motorcycle was seized from his possession.

Confirming the incident, DB sources said that a case is being filed with Hatibandha police station in this connection and further investigation and drives are underway.
