NOAKHALI, Feb 10: Jatiya Party (JaPa) candidate Md. Shariful Islam, contesting with the Plough symbol, has pledged to realise the declaration of Noakhali as a division if elected from Noakhali-4 (Sadar-Subarnachar) in the upcoming 13th national parliament election.
He also promised to establish an airport and a seaport.
He made this announcement on Tuesday while reading his manifesto before journalists at the Shaheed Uddin Kachi auditorium of the Noakhali Press Club. Senior local leaders of the JaPa were present.
At the start of the event, he referenced the party's founder chairman, Hussain Muhammad Ershad, and his efforts for rural infrastructure development in Bangladesh. Aligning with the central manifesto, he emphasised top priority for Noakhali's development.
He lamented that the political leadership of previous governments could not adequately represent Noakhali. Consequently, despite having potential, the establishment of an airport and seaport here did not materialise. He promised to prioritise these projects for Noakhali's development if elected.
Referring to the change in power on 5th August, he noted that discrimination has not yet been eradicated from Bangladesh. He earnestly appealed to the people to vote for the JaPa (Plough) to build a corruption-free and discrimination-free state.
