Five Bangladeshi nationals, including four members of the same family from Laxmipur district, perished in a tragic road accident in Saudi Arabia while returning home after performing Umrah Hajj.

The victims were identified as Saudi expatriate Mizanur Rahman Mizan, 40; his wife Farjana Akter Sumi, 30; their school-going daughter Meher Afroz, 13; and their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Subha Akter. The family's driver, Md. Jilani Babar, 30, also died in the crash.

In the meantime, Mizan's another daughter, Faiza Akter, 11, sustained serious injuries and remains hospitalized in Jeddah.

The incident occurred late Sunday (February 15), around 3 a.m. (Bangladesh time), as the group traveled back to their residence in Jeddah following the completion of their Umrah pilgrimage.

Mizan, a long-term resident in Saudi Arabia, had taken his wife and three daughters on the trip starting February 3.

Mizan's elder brother, Baharul Alam, confirmed the deaths to journalists on Monday (February 16).

According to Baharul Alam, the family departed their Saudi home five days prior for Umrah and met the accident on the return journey.

Ramganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Farashid Bin Enam expressed condolences, calling the event deeply tragic.

He assured full cooperation from authorities to repatriate the bodies and support the grieving family.
