Prep meet on Mother Language Day held in Khulna

KHULNA, Feb 16: A preparatory meeting was held in Khulna on Monday to ensure due observance of the Great Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day-2026 with proper dignity and solemnity.

The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) A S M Jamshed Khondker in his conference room on Monday noon.
At the meeting, the DC thanked all officials of the district for their cooperation in successfully conducting the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum. 

He urged all concerned to remain present at the programmes scheduled to mark the Great Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day with due respect.

It was informed at the meeting that wreaths will be laid at the Shaheed Minar at Shaheed Hadis Park in Khulna City at 12:01am on February 21 marking the Day. National flags will be kept at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous and private institutions, including educational institutions, at sunrise.

Khulna City Corporation will organise drawing and essay competitions for students on the occasion.

Special prayers will be offered after Zohr prayers at the CollectorateJam-e-Mosque and other mosques in the city seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the language martyrs and peace and prosperity of the country. Special prayers will also be arranged at temples, churches and other places of worship.

A discussion meeting and prize distribution ceremony of different competitions will be held at 11am at the auditorium of Khulna District Shilpakala Academy marking the day.

Among others, Additional DC (General) Bitaan Kumar Mondol, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Mosammat Taslima Akter, Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Sheikh Imran, freedom fighters and representatives of various government departments and socio-cultural organisations were present at the meeting.
