China, India greet Bangladesh Foreign Affiars Minister

China and India have extended congratulations to Bangladesh Foreign Affiars Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman on his appointment, expressing willingness to work closely with him to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and partnership.

In separate messages, Wang Yi, China's Foreign Minister and Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, and S. Jaishankar, India's External Affairs Minister, conveyed their felicitations to Dr. Rahman, said a foreign ministry's press release here. 

Wang Yi expressed his intent to work with Foreign Minister Rahman to jointly implement the important understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries and advance the China-Bangladesh Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to new heights.

He underscored the importance Beijing attaches to its ties with Dhaka and reaffirmed China's commitment to deepening cooperation across various sectors under the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership.

Meanwhile, Dr. Jaishankar said he looked forward to working together with Foreign Minister Rahman to advance cooperation between Bangladesh and India for mutual progress and prosperity.

The Indian External Affairs Minister emphasized the longstanding and multifaceted relations between the two neighbouring countries, expressing hope that bilateral engagement would continue to expand in areas of shared interest.

Dr. Khalilur Rahman assumed office as Bangladesh's Foreign Minister following the formation of the new government.
